Asceticism in this world and desire for the Hereafter

Some virtues of the Ka'b Ibn Malik..

He is one of the poets of the Messenger of Allah - peace be upon him - and one of the best companion, and one of the three who  were left behind, and Allah has forgiven them. One of those who witnessed the Aqaba, and he had several hadiths, about 30; Al Bukhari and Muslim agreed on three, Al Bukhari agreed on one, and Moslem agreed on two, and his sons narrated them.

This is the hadith of Ka'b Ibn Malik, in the story of his failure to participate in the Battle of Tabuk, and the Battle of Tabuk was in the ninth year of the Hijrah, but there was a force that attacked the Muslims - before it - without justification, and it was the strength of the Romans - the largest military force that appeared on the face of the earth at that time.

The beginning of this confrontation was with the killing of the ambassador of the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace - Al-Harith bin Umair Al-Azdi - at the hands of Sharhabeel bin Amr Al-Ghassani, when the ambassador was carrying the message of the Prophet, peace be upon him, to the great of Bosri. The Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, was angry at the killing of his Messenger, so he sent three thousand Muslims to Mu'tah in Jumada al-Ula of the eighth year of the Prophet’s migration. It left the most wonderful impression on the hearts of the Arabs, both near and far.

* غزوةِ مُؤتَةَ

Ghazwa of Mu'tah

Abdullah Ibn Omar narrated:

"Allah's Messenger appointed Zaid bin Haritha as the commander of the army during the Ghazwa of Mu'tah and said, "If Zaid is martyred, Jafar should take over his position, and if Jafar is martyred, `Abdullah bin Rawaha should take over his position.' " `Abdulla-h bin `Umar further said, "I was present amongst them in that battle and we searched for Jafar bin Abi Talib and found his body amongst the bodies of the martyred ones, and found over ninety wounds over his body, caused by stabs or shots (of arrows)." Sahih Al Bukhari.

Explanation:..... When the battle took place, these three were killed in the aforementioned order, Abdullah bin Omar, may God be pleased with them both, said: "I was among them during that Ghazwa, we searched for Jafar bin Abi Talib after he was killed, and we found him among the dead, meaning: among the dead, and we found over ninety wounds over his body, caused by stabs or shots (of arrows)."

In this hadith: the evidence for prophecy; because the prophet, while he was Al Madina, told the companions that these men had been hit in Mu'tah .

And in it: What indicates the bravery of Jafar, may God be pleased with him, and that he had seventy-two wounds, all of which were not on his back.

Anas Ibn Malik narrated:

"The Prophet had informed the people of the martyrdom of Zaid, Jafar and Ibn Rawaha before the news of their death reached. The Prophet said, "Zaid took the flag (as the commander of the army) and was martyred, then Jafar took it and was martyred, and then Ibn Rawaha took it and was martyred." At that time the Prophet's eyes were shedding tears. He added, "Then the flag was taken by a Sword amongs the Swords of Allah (i.e. Khalid) and Allah made them (i.e. the Muslims) victorious." Sahih Al Bukhari.

The day of Mu'tah was the eighth year of the Hijrah, and on that day the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, gave the flag to Zaid bin Haritha, and he said: If he is killed, then your leader is Jafar bin Abi Talib, and if Jafar is killed, then your ruler is Abdullah bin Rawahah, so the three of them were martyred. Then Khalid bin Al-Walid took it and he led the army, so God brought victory to him, and the number of Muslims was three thousand, The number of unbelievers is two hundred thousand; One hundred thousand Romans, and one hundred thousand Arab Christians, and only twelve Muslims were killed on that day. Khalid bin Al-Walid said:

On the day (of the battle of) Mu'tah, nine swords were broken in my hand, and nothing was left in my hand except a Yemenite sword of mine. Sahih Al Bukhari.

Explanation: Khalid ibn al-Walid was one of the bravest companions of the Prophet, and the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, named him Saif allah-al-Maslool.  For his strength, valor, and defense of Islam. In this hadith, Khalid bin Al-Waleed says: Nine swords were broken in my hand on the day of Mu'tah, and nothing was left in my hand except a Yemenite sword of mine; It is a sword with a wide blade made in Yemen. The number of the Muslims was three thousand, and the number of the unbelievers was two hundred thousand.  One hundred thousand Romans, and one hundred thousand Arab Christians, and only twelve Muslims were killed on that day.

Ibn Katheer said: "when Khalid led the Muslims at night.. In the morning he changed the positions of the soldiers, so the enemy thought that he was given extra soldiers, so they (enemies) fled away,  and Khalid realised that returning back with Muslims is a great thing.

The Battle of Tabuk and the hadith of Kaab bin Malik: In the month of Rajab - in the ninth year of the Hijrah - and it is one of the four sacred months, this great month in which a great battle and a great psychological epic took place. It was the last battle for the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace. A Ghazwa in which no fighting occurred between the two ranks, nor cohesion between the two groups, but rather it was a revealing and scandalous battle that exposed the hypocrites, it revealed everyone who had a disease in his heart from the intruders who used to live among the Muslims.

The Romans - the greatest state at that time - were preparing to confront the Muslims in Al Madina. The news reached the leadership of the Islamic army under the leadership of the Messenger, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, and the Muslims at that time were in severe drought, great calamity, hardship, barrenness and lack of camels and horses, and the weather was very hot in the heat of the blazing summer.

At the same time, the fruits had begun to ripen and the time for harvesting the crops was approaching. Moreover, the enemy was very, very far from the Muslims, the road was rugged, the distance was long, and the Muslims did not have enough supplies and aid with them.

The Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, saw that the situation needed to be severely resolved. If the Romans had left their march towards Madina, they would have reached the lands of Islam and roamed through the lands. Therefore, the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, decided, and announced to the people that they should prepare to fight, and he declared with all frankness and clarity that he wanted to meet the Romans and did not go to them as he, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, used to do in his previous battles and conquests. When Muslims  heard the voice of the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, calling for fighting the Romans, but they raced to comply with him. So they prepared to fight very quickly, and tribes began descending to Madina from every direction and none of the Muslims was satisfied to be left behind in this Ghazwa. Except for those in whose hearts is a disease, and only three people. Then the people of need came to bear the Messenger of God, to permit them go out to fight the Romans, but if he told them: “I can find nothing for you to ride upon." They turned back while their eyes overflowed with tears out of grief that they could not find something to spend [for the cause of Allah ].

Othman came to the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, with a thousand dinars. Al-Hasan bin Waqi’ said: And in another place in my book, in his sleeve when he prepared the army of hardship and scattered it in his lap.  Abd al-Rahman said: I saw the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, turn it over in his lap and say, “Othman did not harm what he did after today twice.”

Narrated by Abdul-Rahman Ibn Samra.. Sahih Atermizi.

The Prophet made Ali Ibn Abi Talib his khalifa in Al Madina, but Ali told him do you leave me behind with women and boys, but the Prophet told him "You are in the same position with relation to me as Harun was in relation to Moses but with (this explicit difference) that there is no prophet after me.

Sahih Moslem.

Ali said: Are you succeeding me in women and boys?  It is as if he belittled what he left behind, so the Prophet said this to him. Except that there is no prophet after me.” When he likened him in his succession to Harun when Moses succeeded him, he feared that he would be interpreted by an interpreter and claim prophethood to Ali, so he said: “Except that there is no prophet after me.”

.ِ

The hypocrites abandoned this Ghazwa and sought refuge to the shade, the damp, and the dates, and the distance was far from them.

As for the sincere believers, they went out with the Prophet, may the peace and blessings of God be upon him, and their determination was not discouraged by hardship or the goodness of fruits.

However, Kaab bin Malik - may God be pleased with him - missed the Battle of Tabuk without an excuse, and he is one of the sincere believers, and that is why he said, "He did not lag behind the Messenger of God."  On any Ghazwa. All the battles of the Messenger.” Ka’b - may God be pleased with him - participated in them, as he is one of the mujahideen in the way of God, except in the Battle of Badr.

The Ghazwa of Badr and it was on the seventeenth of Ramadan in the second year of migration, and in it, God wrote victory for the Muslims:

Ka'b and others were left behind because the Prophet - may God bless him and grant him peace - left Madina not wanting to fight, and therefore only three hundred and fifteen men were with him.  Because they wanted to take a caravan for  Quraish, that is, loaded camels that came from the Levant, going to Mecca and passing through Madina.

So the Prophet - may God’s prayers and peace be upon him- went out in order to receive this caravan and take it, because the people of Mecca expelled the Prophet “and his companions from their homes and money; that is why their money was a booty for the Prophet - may God’s prayers and peace be upon him - and it is permissible for him to go out to take it, and there is no aggression from the Messenger of God and his companions in that, rather this is a taking of some of their right.

The Messenger went out; with three hundred and fifteen men who only had seventy camels and two horses with them, and they had no kit and the number was few, but God brought them together with their enemy without an appointment so that God might implement what the Almighty and Majestic wanted.

So Abu Sufyan - who was the leader of the caravan - heard that the Prophet “went out to him to take the caravan, so he turned away from his march to the coast and sent to Quraish crying out for their help and he said: Come on, save the caravan.

So Quraish gathered, and their leaders, and nobles came out, between nine hundred and a thousand men.  They went out as God said about them, they came out of their homes: "those who came insolently and to be seen by people and avert [them] from the way of Allah. And Allah is encompassing of what they do."

When they were on the road and knew that the caravan had escaped, they turned back among themselves and said: The caravan was saved, so what have we to do with the fight?

Abu Jahl said: By God, we will not return until we arrive at Badr and stay there for three days: slaughtering camels, giving alcohol, and feeding the food, and the Arabs hear would about us, and they still fear us forever.

.

This is what they said, with pride, arrogance and pride, but - praise be to God - the Arabs began to speak of them with the disgraceful defeat that the Arabs had never experienced  when they met the Prophet, and that was in Ramadan in the second year of the Hijrah, on the seventeenth day of it, when they met, and God Almighty revealed to the angels: "I am with you, so strengthen those who have believed. I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieved".

Look!  The verse confirms the believers and casts terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. How close is victory in this situation?! Fear in the hearts of the enemies, and steadfastness in the hearts of the believers. So God made the believers steadfast with great steadfastness, and sent terror into the hearts of those who disbelievers.

.

Allah said:

"so strike [them] upon the necks and strike from them every fingertip." Strike every joint, strike, it is easy for you..So the Muslims - praise be to God - began to flog them; They killed seventy men and captured seventy men. Those who were killed were not from among them, all of them were killed from their strongholds and pride, and twenty-four men were taken from them, drawn and thrown into the well of Badr  they were dead bodies.

The Prophet came and told them: O So-and-so, son of So-and-so, he calls them by their names and the names of their fathers, have you found what your Lord promised to be true?  I have truly found what my Lord promised me.  They said: O Messenger of God, how do you speak to people who are dead?  He said, “By God, they hear what I say to them as you hear me, but they do not answer, because they are dead.”

Anas b. Malik reported that Allah's Messenger let the dead bodies of the unbelievers who fought in Badr (lie unburied) for three days. He then came to them and sat by their side and called them and said:

O Abu Jahl b. Hisham, O Umayya b. Khalaf, O Utba b. Rab'ila, O Shaiba b. Rabi'a, have you not found what your Lord had promised with you to be correct? As for me, I have found the promises of my Lord to be (perfectly) correct. Omar listened to the words of the Prophet and said: Allah's Messenger, how do they listen and respond to you? They are dead and their bodies have decayed. Thereupon he (the Holy Prophet) said: By Him in Whose Hand is my life, what I am saying to them, even you cannot hear more distinctly than they, but they lack the power to reply. Then He commanded that they should be buried in the well of Badr… Sahih Moslem.

God’s made His Prophet win, and God named this day “the day of criterion, the day both groups met.”

On this day, God divided truth and falsehood greatly..  Look at the power of God Almighty on this day, about three hundred men have triumphed over about a thousand men who are more fully equipped and stronger, and these only have a few camels and horses with them. But the victory of God Almighty, when it descends to a people, no one stands before them, and to this God indicated by His saying: "And already had Allah given you victory at [the battle of] Badr while you were few in number. Then fear Allah ; perhaps you will be grateful".

God looked at them and said to them: Do whatever you want, for I have forgiven you.

For any disobedience that occurs from them, it is forgiven, because the price is paid in advance.

This battle became a cause for all good, even if Hatib bin Abi Balta’ah - may God be pleased with him - when what happened from him in his book to the people of Mecca when the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, wanted to invade them in the battle of conquest, he - may God be pleased with him - wrote to the people of Mecca telling them, but  God showed His Prophet about that

Narrated `Ali

Allah's Messenger sent me, Az-Zubair and Al-Miqdad saying, "Proceed till you reach Rawdat Khakh where there is a lady carrying a letter, and take that (letter) from her." So we proceeded on our way with our horses galloping till we reached the Rawda, and there we found the lady and said to her, "Take out the letter." She said, "I have no letter." We said, "Take out the letter, or else we will take off your clothes." So she took it out of her braid, and we brought the letter to Allah's Messenger. The letter was addressed from Hatib, bin Abi Balta'a to some pagans of Mecca, telling them about what Allah's Messenger intended to do. Allah's Messenger said, "O Hatib! What is this?" Hatib replied, "O Allah's Messenger! Do not make a hasty decision about me. I was a person not belonging to Quraish but I was an ally to them from outside and had no blood relation with them, and all the Emigrants who were with you, have got their kinsmen (in Mecca) who can protect their families and properties. So I liked to do them a favor so that they might protect my relatives as I have no blood relation with them. I did not do this to renegade from my religion (i.e. Islam) nor did I do it to choose Heathenism after Islam." Allah's Messenger  said to his companions." As regards him, he (i.e. Hatib) has told you the truth." Omar said, "O Allah Messenger ! Allow me to chop off the head of this hypocrite!" The Prophet  said, "He (i.e. Hatib) has witnessed the Badr battle (i.e. fought in it) and what could tell you, perhaps Allah looked at those who witnessed Badr and said, "O the people of Badr (i.e. Badr Muslim warriors), do what you like, for I have forgiven you. "Then Allah revealed the Sura:-- "O you who believe! Take not my enemies And your enemies as friends offering them (Your) love even though they have disbelieved in that Truth (i.e. Allah, Prophet Mohammad and this Qur'an) which has come to you ....(to the end of Verse)....(And whosoever of you (Muslims) does that, then indeed he has gone (far) astray (away) from the Straight Path

We return to the hadith of Ka’b bin Malik: Ka’b bin Malik said, “He accompanied the Messenger of God in all of his Ghazawat, except the Ghazwa of Badr

Ka'b and others were left behind because the Prophet - may God bless him and grant him peace - left Madina not wanting to fight, but he went out on the caravan, but God brought him together with his enemy without an appointment, and it was a blessed raider, praise be to God.

Then he mentioned his pledge of allegiance to the Prophet “on the night of Aqaba in Mina, where they pledged allegiance to the Prophet on Islam and said: I do not like to have Badr in exchange for it.” this means, it is more beloved to him than a Ghazwa; because it is a great gain. He consoles himself that if he misses Badr, then the pledge of allegiance to Aqabah has taken place for him. May God be pleased with Ka’b and all the Companions.

And this is my story of remaining back from Allah's Messenger on the occasion of the Battle of Tabuk. Never did I possess means enough and (my circumstances) more favourable than at the occasion of this expedition. And, by Allah, I had never before this expedition simultaneously in my possession two rides. Allah's Messenger set out for this expedition in extremely hot season; the journey was long and the land (which he and his army had to cover) was waterless and he had to confront a large army, so he informed the Muslims about the actual situation (they had to face), so that they should adequately equip themselves for this expedition, and he also told them the destination where he intended to go. And the Muslims who accompanied Allah's Messenger at that time were large in numbers.

So the Muslims went out with the Messenger of God;  Only those whom God let down with hypocrisy were left behind, and only three men were: Ka’b ibn Malik, Mararah ibn al-Rabi’, and Hilal ibn Umayyah, may God be pleased with them. These are sincere believers, but they fell behind because of the will of God Almighty.  As for the others who are left behind, they are hypocrites who are immersed in hypocrisy. We ask God for well-being.  So the Prophet - may God’s prayers and peace be upon him - and his companions - and they were many - went to the direction of Tabuk until he came down there. But God Almighty did not unite him with his enemy, rather he remained for twenty days in that place, then he departed without war. The Islamic army encamped in Tabuk and camped there, ready to meet the enemy. The Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, stood up to them and delivered an eloquent sermon. He came with a comprehensive speech, exhorted the good of the world and the hereafter, warned and gave good tidings until he raised their morale. He made up for their shortcomings and defects in terms of lack of provisions and materials. As for the Romans and their allies, when they heard of the advent of the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, terror seized them, and they did not dare to advance and meet, rather they dispersed in the country within their borders, and this had the best effect on the military reputation of the Muslims, inside the Arabs' island and its remote parts. By this, the Muslims obtained great and dangerous political gains, perhaps they would not have obtained them if there had been a collision between the two armies

Benefits

Kaab bin Malik, may God be pleased with him, says: The Messenger, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, and the Muslims prepared and left Madina. As for him - may God be pleased with him - he was late and started every morning leaving his camel and saying: I will follow them, but he does nothing, then does it every day, until the matter went too far and he did not realize. In this there is an evidence that if a person does not initiate a righteous deed, then he should be deprived of it.  If a person knows the truth and does not accept it and submit to it at first sight, then he may miss it and may be deprived of it - God forbid.

Among the benefits of this hadith: The severity of the Companions’ compliance with the command of the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, and the evidence for that is what happened to Abu Qatada - may God be pleased with him - with Ka’b bin Malik, may God be pleased with him - he did not respond to him when he asked him — I adjure you by God!  Did you know that I love God and His Messenger?

Among the benefits of this hadith is that it is necessary to beware of evil-doers who take advantage of human weakness and opportunities to make him waste and perish.  This king - the king of Ghassan - took the opportunity of Kaab bin Malik - may God be pleased with him - calling him to misguidance, perhaps he would turn from his religion to the religion of this king because of this offense.

Among the benefits of the hadith: The strength of Ka’b bin Malik - may God be pleased with him - in the religion of God and that he is one of the sincere believers. Some people - God forbid - say: We believe in God, but his faith is weak. If he is harmed for the sake of God, he apostates - God forbid - and commits immorality and abandons obedience, and Ka’ab bin Malik, may God be pleased with him, was greatly harmed for the sake of God, but he was patient and sought reward and waited for relief. So God granted him a relief that no one else and his two companions could have. God sent down verses in praise of them for them that will be recited until the Day of Resurrection.

"He turned in mercy also to the three who were left behind; (they felt guilty) to such a degree that the earth seemed constrained to them, for all its spaciousness, and their (very) souls seemed straitened to them,- and they perceived that there is no fleeing from Allah (and no refuge) but to Himself. Then He turned to them, that they might repent: for Allah is Oft-Returning, Most Merciful".

We read their story in the Quraan in our prayers!  This is a great virtue. Their story is read in prayer, in the five daily prayers, in supererogatory prayers, in secret and in public.

Another benefit of this hadith is that if a person sees a fitnah or fear of fitnah, he should destroy that which is the cause of his fitnah. Ka'b feared this king's fitnah so he took this paper and burned it, may God be pleased with him.

What is important is that if you see something that prevents you from remembrance of God, keep it away from you by any means, so that it will not be a reason to distract you from remembrance of God.

When forty nights were completed, the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, sent to Ka’b and his two companions, Hilal bin Umayyah and Marara bin Al-Rabee’ - may God be pleased with them - to be separated from their wives.

The wife of Hilal bin Umayya came to the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, and told him that he needed her to serve him.  Because he does not have a servant, so the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, gave her permission, on the condition that he would not approach her, she said: By God, there is no desire in him to anything, which means that he has no desire for women, and that he has been crying - may God be pleased with him - since the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, commanded them to leave them until this day, for forty days;  Because he doesn't know what the end will be

.

Ten days later, that I observed my dawn prayer and was sitting on one of the roofs of our houses. And I was in fact sitting in that very state which Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, has described about us in these words:" Life had become hard for myself and the earth had compressed despite its vastness," that I heard the noise of an announcer from the peak of the hill of Sal' saying at the top of his voice: Ka'b b. Malik, there is glad tidings for you. I fell down in prostration and came to realise that there was (a message of) relief for me. Allah's Messenger had informed the people of the acceptance of our repentance by Allah as he offered the dawn prayer. So the people went on to give us glad tidings and some of them went to my friends in order to give them the glad tidings and a person galloped his horse and came from the tribe of Aslam and his horse reached me more quickly than his voice. And when he came to me whose sound I heard, he gave me the glad tidings. I took off my clothes and clothed him with them because of his bringing good news to me and, by Allah, I possessed nothing else (in the form of clothes) than these two on that occasion, and I asked one to lend me two clothes and dressed myself in them. I came to Allah's Messenger and on my way I met groups of people who greeted me because of (the acceptance of) repentance and they said: Here is a greeting for you for your repentance being accepted by Allah. (I moved on) until I came to the mosque and Allah's Messenger had been sitting there amongst persons..

These people love for their brothers what they love for themselves, so they did not envy them for what God had bestowed upon them of the revelation of the Great Quraan with their repentance, rather they began to congratulate them until he entered the mosque.

In it: The severity of the Prophet’s abandonment of these three, peace and blessings be upon him, to the extent that he commanded them to separate from their wives, and the separation between a man and his wife is a great matter.

*
.

In it: The severity of the Companions' compliance - may God be pleased with them - to the command of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace;  Because - may God be pleased with him - he did not hesitate, nor did he say: I may go back to the Messenger or he said to the Messenger whom the Prophet sent: Go back to him, perhaps he would allow, rather he agreed with everything.

That the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, was merciful to his nation, for after he commanded them to separate from women, he granted Hilal bin Umayyah a license, because he needed to be served by his wife

The keenness of the Companions - may God be pleased with them - to race to the good tidings;  Because the glad tidings bring happiness to the Muslim, bringing happiness to the Muslim is what brings them closer to  God Almighty;  because it is charity and God - Glory be to Him - loves the doers of good and does not waste their reward.

Piety is the lost pearl

Abandoning great and small sins, this is piety.

Be like the one who walks over land of thorns, he looks out what he sees.

Do not be ashamed of small things, for the mountains are made of pebbles.

Piety is that the Muslim places between himself and what he fears from his Lord, such as his anger, wrath, and punishment, a protection against that, by doing his obedience and avoiding his disobedience.

It was said in piety!  It is as Talq bin Habeeb said: to act in obedience to God upon a light from God, hoping for God’s reward, and to leave disobedience to God upon a light from God, fearing God’s punishment.

Abi Hurairah narrated:

"The Muslim is the brother of the Muslim. He does not betray him, does not lie to him, and does not let him down. Every Muslim is forbidden to another Muslim: his honor, his money and his blood.

Piety is here.  According to a person, it is evil to despise his Muslim brother."  Sahih Atermizi.

From what helps a person to do that: contemplate about the affairs of this world and the Hereafter, and to know the value of each of them, because this knowledge must lead a person to strive to achieve victory in the Hereafter with the bliss of Paradise, and deliverance from Hellfire.

That is why God Almighty told us about Paradise that “it has been prepared for the righteous.”

What increases the piety in the hearts: the person’s diligence in obeying God Almighty, for God rewards him for that by increasing guidance and piety.

He helps him to do what God has commanded, and He opens the doors of goodness and obedience for him, and makes them easy for him, as long as it was not easy for him before.

Allah said: "And those who are guided - He increases them in guidance and gives them their righteousness"

Abi Dharr narrated:

He who comes with goodness, there are in store for him ten like those and even more than those: 'And he who comes with vice, ' it is only for that that he is called to account. I even forgive him (as I like) and he who draws close to Me by the span of a palm I draw close to him by the cubit, and he who draws close to Me by the cubit I draw close to him by the space (covered) by two hands, and he who walks towards Me I rush towards him, and he who meets Me in the state that his sins fill the earth, but not associating anything with Me, I would meet Him with the same (vastness) of pardon (on My behalf)." Sahih Moslem.

The explanation in this Hadith that the good thing  should be increased by the ten likes thanks to God and his mercy and his promise,  then the increase to seven hundred times and to many times, for some people without some in accordance with his assessment

He said, “And whoever approaches me a handspan, I draw near to him, and whoever approaches me a cubit, I draw near to him by a length, and whoever comes to me walking, I come to him rushing.” So, God’s turn to the servant when the servant turns to him, Glory be to Him, is greater than the servant’s turn to him.

And whoever comes to me “walking”, i.e., in my obedience “I come to him rushing”, rushing in the language: hurrying, walking without running, and the adjective of rushing for God the Mighty and Sublime as it befits Him, It is not like the rushing of creatures.

Then he spoke of the one who committed sins, and said, “And whoever meets me with a sin nearly as close to the earth” and as an earthly sin, meaning: its fullness; minor and major sins, “I meet him with forgiveness in the same way” as long as he repented of it and sought forgiveness from it.

But if he does not repent of the sins while achieving monotheism, then he is under the will of God’s saying, “And he forgives less than that to whomever he wills.”

God Almighty commanded people to be pious, and he told that piety is the title of success in this world and the hereafter, so the Almighty said: "O you who have believed, fear Allah as He should be feared and do not die except as Muslims [in submission to Him]."

He also said: "And whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger and fears Allah and is conscious of Him - it is those who are the attainers."

He informed that He,Glory be to Him, is with the righteous, so He said, “God is with those who are righteous and those who do good.”

And that he is their guardian, so he said, “And God is the Guardian of the righteous.”

And that the end is for the pious, and he said, “And the end is for the pious.”

And that they are the people of salvation and victory in this world and the hereafter, he said, “And We saved those who believed and were pious” and he said, “Then We will save those who feared God”, he said also "Indeed, for the righteous is attainment ".

And the righteous among the believers are the allies of God, "Unquestionably, [for] the allies of Allah there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve, Those who believed and were fearing Allah."

There are many verses for this.

Piety is a favor from God to His servants, and It is a transcendence in religiosity that includes obedience to God the Mighty and Sublime and observing Him secretly and publicly. For the honor and virtue of piety, God has honored his people in this world and the hereafter, and He has given them the good fruits of their work in both worlds, as a generosity from Him and as a reward for what they have done.

Piety is the commandment of God and His Messengers, to the first and the last, piety, servants of God is the commandment of the first and the last.

Allah said:

"And We have instructed those who were given the Scripture before you and yourselves to fear Allah"

If there was a trait that is more beneficial to the servants in the immediate and the future than the piety of God Almighty, God Almighty would have enjoined it on them, so when God Almighty commanded the first and the last to fear God Almighty, piety was the goal.

Piety as well servants of God is the commandment of our Prophet Mohammad, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him and his family;  When he preached an eloquent sermon, hearts were filled with tears and eyes shed tears. They said: O Messenger of God!  As if it were a sermon bidding farewell; because he who says farewell achieves the goal in his will, and strives to be faithful to it.

He said: I advise you to fear God, the Mighty and Sublime, and to listen and obey, and even if an Abyssinian slave commands against you.

Al-'Irbad bin Sariyah Narrated:

The Messenger of Allah

exhorted us to the extent that the eyes wept and the hearts shuddered with fear. A man said: 'Indeed this is a farewell exhortation. [So what] do you order us O Messenger of Allah?' He said: 'I order you to have Taqwa of Allah, and to listen and obey, even in the case of a Ethiopian slave

Indeed, whomever among you lives, he will see much difference. Beware of the newly invented matters, for indeed they are astray. Whoever among you sees that, then he must stick to my Sunnah and the Sunnah of the rightly guided Khulafa', click to it with the molars.

There is no doubt that holding fast to the Book and the Sunnah is the basis of salvation in this world and in the hereafter. Al-I’tisam: is holding fast. Ibn Manzur, may God have mercy on him, said: “Al-I’tisam: holding on to something.”

Allah said:

"And hold fast, all together, by the rope which Allah (stretches out for you)"

Allah, the Most High, commanded us to follow the Holy Book, and to return everything that people need and all that they quarrel about to him.   "And if you disagree over anything, refer it to Allah and the Messenger, if you should believe in Allah and the Last Day, that is the best [way] and best in result."

Imam Ibn Katheer - may God have mercy on him - said: Mujahid and more than one of the predecessors said: That is, to the Book of God and the Sunnah of His Messenger, may God bless him and grant him peace.

This is an order from God Almighty that everything about which people dispute, from the origins and branches of religion, they should refer this dispute to the Book and the Sunnah, as the Almighty said: "And in anything over which you disagree - its ruling is [to be referred] to Allah" .

The Noble Quraan ordered taking everything that the Messenger, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, brought, and forbidding everything that he prohibited, God Almighty said: "And whatever the Messenger has given you - take; and what he has forbidden you - refrain from. And fear Allāh; indeed, Allāh is severe in penalty".

And whoever holds fast to God Almighty, he will be saved from all evils, the first of which is the evil of the soul that is between the two sides of man.  The Almighty said, "The soul is a persistent enjoiner of evil, except those upon which my Lord has mercy."

“Verily, Satan is an enemy to you, so take him as an enemy. He only invites his party to be among the owners of the Blaze.”   The soul and the devil are the two enemies that never separates from the servant.  But if the servant holds fast to God Almighty, they will not reach Him.

For this reason, Ibn al-Qayyim and other imams of the Salaf mentioned that the enmity of the soul and the enmity of the devil are greater than the enmity of the external enemy, because the external enemy is known by its appearance and it is prepared for him. But who among us prepares for himself for the evil of his soul? If a person does not hold fast to the obedience of God Almighty and adherence to His method, then he will quickly be led by desires and suspicions and stray from the right path, and he will not be upright in the religion of God Almighty.

Glory be to my Lord, made the nature of these souls that they are ignorant, and injustice, so ignorance and injustice combined in them.  Allah says: "He was unjust and ignorant".

This ignorance and injustice must be repelled from the Muslim slave, otherwise his soul becomes ignorant and oppressive, at which time every ugly deed and every deed that distances him from God will come out of him.

Man’s ignorance is raised by beneficial knowledge, the knowledge that is consistent with the Book and the Sunnah, which God revealed to His Messenger and made it a light by which people seek light in the darkness of doubts, desires, and other things. It is the light that God sent down to His Messenger in His saying: "O mankind, there has come to you a conclusive proof from your Lord, and We have sent down to you a clear light".

ا.هـ

The easy interpretation: O people, a proof has come to you from your Lord, who is our Messenger Mohammad, and what he brought of clear proofs and arguments. The greatest of them is the Noble Quraan, which testifies to the truthfulness of his prophethood and final message, and we have sent down the Quraan to you as guidance and a clear light.

God is greater, he who is in his hand carrying a torch of light, he will not go astray.  How many great injustices are surrounded by evils, disobediences, doubts and other matters, but the light of faith and revelation guides a person on his path and lights the way for him.

If ignorance rises with the knowledge that is the knowledge of the Book and the Sunnah.  But how does injustice rise? It is elevated by the good deed that removes the person from being described  by injustice.  If a person does what he knows, his self-injustice will be removed from him and he will be guided to the path of goodness and righteousness.

"And when he attained his full strength and was [mentally] mature, We bestowed upon him judgement and knowledge. And thus do We reward the doers of good,And he entered the city at a time of inattention by its people and found therein two men fighting: one from his faction and one from among his enemy. And the one from his faction called for help to him against the one from his enemy, so Moses struck him and [unintentionally] killed him. [Moses] said, "This is from the work of Satan. Indeed, he is a manifest, misleading enemy, He said, "My Lord, indeed I have wronged myself, so forgive me," and He forgave him. Indeed, He is the Forgiving, the Merciful

The temptation of Satan and falling into sin is an injustice to the soul.  And self-injustice rises with sincere repentance and good deeds that remove a person from being described by injustice.  If a person does what he knows, his self-injustice will be removed from him and he will be guided to the path of goodness and righteousness.

We extract the treatment of “injustice and ignorant”: ignorance: is treated with beneficial knowledge;  Injustice is treated with repentance and good deeds.

"We said:

O Adam! Dwell you and your wife in the Paradise and eat both of you freely with pleasure and delight, of things therein as wherever you will, but come not near this tree or you both will be of the Zâlimûn (wrong-doers)"

They said, "Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves, and if You do not forgive us and have mercy upon us, we will surely be among the losers."

Repentance..

God Almighty ordered his slaves with repentance, and Allaah says: "And turn to Allāh in repentance, all of you, O believers, that you might succeed."

"But indeed, I am the Perpetual Forgiver of whoever repents and believes and does righteousness and then continues in guidance."

God's slaves if they disobeyed for their human weakness and their ignorance, they repent.

They are either repentants from sin committed, or from the work they didn't do well, or from completion they did not realize, or from graces they could not thank. For this God ordered us to repent as repentance is not particularly for the sinner, but general in the right of all believers who want to win in this world and the Hereafter

Abi Hurairah said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and his family says "I seek forgiveness and repent to God in a day more than seventy times" Al Bukhari.

This is the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, and he is the infallible, and his previous and future sins have been forgiven, and he repents to God more than seventy times a day. Repentance is obligatory immediately and permanently from every sin, small or major.  The clear revelation came to the illiterate prophet urging this great matter.

Repentance is: returning to God Almighty and leaving what angers God, both outwardly and inwardly.  Regret for what was past, abandonment at once, determination not to return, and uprightness for the truth; Doing what God loves, and pleases Him.

It is obligatory for a Muslim, if he commits a sin, to rush to repent immediately without delay, because:

First: He does not know at what moment he will die.  Second: because bad things drag their sisters.  God Almighty has praised in his dear book those who hurry to repent:

"And those who, when they commit an immorality or wrong themselves [by transgression], remember Allah and seek forgiveness for their sins - and who can forgive sins except Allah ? - and [who] do not persist in what they have done while they know. Those - their reward is forgiveness from their Lord and gardens beneath which rivers flow [in Paradise], wherein they will abide eternally; and excellent is the reward of the [righteous] workers".

So, O healthy one, make sincere repentance, and hurry, O Muslim, to salvation, and remember that health does not last, and that the moment does not return, and that the death from which you flee is inevitably coming. Thank your Lord with repentance, worship, remembrance and regret, and ask Him, Glory be to Him, to be steadfast in the truth and goodness...and remember that nothing will benefit you on the Day of Judgment except your righteous deeds, and among them is repentance that erases minor and major sins.

Asceticism

Asceticism: is to leave what is useless in the hereafter. Piety: to leave what you fear will be harmful in the hereafter..This phrase is one of the best and most comprehensive of what has been said about asceticism and piety

By contemplating these two definitions of asceticism and piety, and by examining their meaning, we get the following benefits:

The rank of asceticism is higher than the rank of piety, because the ascetic always blames himself, he does not waste his life in something that does not bring him closer to God Almighty and does not benefit him in the Hereafter.

Rather, he looks at what he says and does;  If it is something that will benefit him with God Almighty, he will take it and attach his concern to it, and if he does not hope for its benefit in the Hereafter, he will refrain from it and leave it, even if there is no harm in the Hereafter.

This does not mean that the ascetic does not enjoy what is permissible, rather he enjoys it without expansion and intends by it to piety to obey God Almighty and thus benefit him in the Hereafter

As for piety, its adherent avoids what he fears will be harmful in the Hereafter.  If it is free of harm, he may take it even if he does not benefit from it in the Hereafter, i.e., he avoids the forbidden and its like, and does the obligatory and the like, and everything else is expanded in it, leaving or doing without invoking the intention of worship with that. This is a high rank, but without the shrine of asceticism.  Thus we can say that every ascetic is pious, and not every pious is an ascetic.

With the correct understanding of asceticism and piety according to the previous definitions, we get rid of the misunderstanding and mistake that some people may fall into on the subject of asceticism and piety, and for this reason there are forms of it:

Restricting asceticism to certain aspects in food, drink, clothing and housing, or abandoning one's acquisition, devoting oneself to remembrance, the Quraan, and supererogatory acts of worship...etc. Forgetting what is more important than that, the asceticism of the heart, its inclination to the Hereafter, its love and its reliance on God Almighty, and the abandonment of what harms it of hidden and apparent sins. Therefore, the first thing that the ascetic should pay attention to is his asceticism in what God Almighty has forbidden and his doing what God Almighty has commanded. This is followed by his asceticism in questionable things that are forbidden and his doing what is suspected of what is obligatory, then he reaches after that to his asceticism in permissible things that do not benefit him in the Hereafter, and if he takes it, he intends by it to piety to obey God Almighty, so he turns what is permissible in his right into acts of worship that benefit him in the Hereafter.

The belief of some people that asceticism and piety are only related to the leaving (abandoning) They do not see piety or asceticism except in abandoning the forbidden or its suspects, not in the performance of duties and their doubts, although if we look closely at the concept of abandonment - contained in the definition of asceticism and piety, we will see it includes leaving the forbidden and its doubts and doing the duty and its doubts, and whoever does that has left what he fears harm in the hereafter.

From this error arise some contradictory images in the life of those who claim asceticism or piety.

This Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah, may God Almighty have mercy on him, elaborates on this situation, saying: The mistake in piety falls on three sides: among them: The belief of many people that it is a matter of abandonment, so they do not see piety except in abandoning the forbidden, not in performing the duty, and this is what plagues many of the people.  The religious and reckless, you see one of them refrains from the false word, and the dirham (money) that is suspicious because it is from unjust money, or a corrupt transaction, and refrains from relying on oppressors for the sake of innovations in religion, and people of immorality in this world, and with this he leaves things that are obligatory for him or sufficiency, and it has been appointed upon him, from: a relationship of kinship, the right of a neighbor, a poor person, a friend, an orphan, a wayfarer, the right of a Muslim, the one who has authority, the one with knowledge, and about enjoining good and forbidding wrong, and about jihad for God's sake.  To other things which are of benefit to the creation in their religion and their world, which is obligatory upon him.  Or he does that not as a way of worshiping God Almighty.  Rather, from the point of view of assignment and so on.

ج-

Some people do some actions that may be forbidden, or leave some actions that may be obligatory, believing that this is from piety. This usually happens when there are conflicting interests and evils, and there is no equilibrium between what is done and what is left of the legitimate interest and the legitimate corruption.

Sheikh of Islam, may God Almighty have mercy on him, explains this issue, saying: “And perfection of piety is that a person learns the best of the two good and the evil of the two evils, and he knows that Sharia is based on the attainment and perfection of interests, and the prevention and reduction of evils.” Otherwise, whoever does not balance what is in the act and the abandonment of the legitimate interest, and the legitimate corruption;  He may neglect duties, and do forbidden things, and he sees that as piety.

Such as one who abandons Friday and congregational prayers behind imams who are heresy or immoral, and considers that to be piety, and refuses to accept the testimony of the truthful, and to take the knowledge of the scholar if he has little innovation, and considers abandoning the acceptance of hearing this truth that must be heard from piety.

د-

Ignorance of some who are pious or ascetic about the Book and the Sunnah, so they do some actions thinking that they are obligatory or semi-obligatory, and they leave some actions thinking that they are forbidden or semi-prohibited, and they think that this is from piety and religiosity.

But their ignorance of some of what is permissible and what is forbidden may lead them to do something that the evidence does not indicate that it is obligatory, or to leave unless the evidence indicates that it is forbidden or suspected to be forbidden. Rather, this piety may be based on conjecture or psychological inclination only.

Sheikh of Islam, may God Almighty have mercy on him, says, “...if he does the obligatory and the suspect and leaves the forbidden and the suspect, then the belief of the obligation and the prohibition should be based on the evidence of the Book and the Sunnah, and with knowledge and not desire.

Otherwise, many people alienate themselves from things of habit and the like, and this is what strengthens their prohibition and suspicion in his view, and some of them are in delusions and false assumptions, so these suspicions are based on corrupt piety... And from this section the piety that the Messenger, may God bless him and grant him peace, denounced in the hadith, which is true, that when he granted concessions on things, he was informed that people abstained from them, so he said “……”.

A group of three men came to the houses of the wives of the Prophet asking how the Prophet  worshipped (Allah), and when they were informed about that, they considered their worship insufficient and said, "Where are we from the Prophet  as his past and future sins have been forgiven." Then one of them said, "I will offer the prayer throughout the night forever." The other said, "I will fast throughout the year and will not break my fast." The third said, "I will keep away from the women and will not marry forever." Allah's Messenger came to them and said, "Are you the same people who said so-and-so? By Allah, I am more submissive to Allah and more afraid of Him than you; yet I fast and break my fast, I do sleep and I also marry women. So he who does not follow my tradition in religion, is not from me (not one of my followers).

Sahih Al Bukhari.

For this reason the devout pious needs a lot of knowledge of the Quraan and Sunnah and jurisprudence in the religion, otherwise he may spoil his corrupt piety more than he can fix it, as the infidels and the people of heresy did from the Kharijites and the Raafidis, and others.

The will of man with his piety and his renunciation of the world is fame, or priority, or the praise of people

In this regard, the Sheikh of Islam, may God Almighty have mercy on him, says: “...and know that piety does not benefit its owner, and he will have a reward except by doing an enjoined act of sincerity. As for piety in the act of what is commanded, it is apparent, for God Almighty does not accept action except what is intended for His face.

As for leaving what is forbidden, which some people call piety, then if he leaves bad deeds for other than the sake of God, he will not be rewarded for them, and he will not be punished for them, and if he leaves them for the sake of God, he will be rewarded for them, and this is only by what he establishes in his heart from the hope of God’s mercy, or the fear of His punishment.

Asceticism in this world may be to seek comfort from the harm that it causes.  Or for the lack of what is required of it, and all of this is not from asceticism in anything and is not praiseworthy in the sight of God Almighty.

Rather, he is the praiseworthy person who abandons the world and condemns it, his motive is the desire of the sake of God Almighty and the abode of the hereafter, and because the world distracts him from that. Were it not for the fact that this world is distracting from the worship of God Almighty and the Hereafter, asceticism has not been prescribed in it, so let the one who claims asceticism pay attention to this matter and search for his intention and not confuse truth with falsehood. People who forsake what benefits them without harm, they fall into neglecting obligatory or desirable duties, such as those who abandon women and eat meat and so on. The Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said: “By God, I am the most fearful of God and the most pious of you, but I fast and break the fast, I pray and lie down, and I marry women, so whoever turns away from my Sunnah is not from me.”

Asceticism may make one do prohibited acts, such as one who abandons the consumption of what is permitted to him of money and benefit, then he needs money, so he takes it by the forbidden ways, or asks people of the forbidden issue, or becomes greedy, and anticipation is disliked.

And he whose asceticism is that of laziness, unemployment, and comfort, not seeking the abode of the Hereafter, with righteous deeds and beneficial knowledge, then these people neither live in this world nor in the hereafter, so whoever leaves for his asceticism commanded good deeds, then what he abandons is better than his asceticism.

Negative concept of asceticism..

Asceticism in this world is the shortening of hope, not by eating thick things, nor by wearing an abaya, but there is a very precise meaning:

That you can feed the poor, shelter the homeless,  afford the marriage of young people, spend it on teaching the Quraan, and solve people’s problems. If you renounce lawful money that may be a strength for you in the Hereafter, then you are not ascetic, and if you renounce a position in which you can establish the truth and nullify falsehood and make your benefit general, then you are not ascetic.

This sick concept of asceticism: everything you reject, you withdraw from, then you will have no good works.

Sometimes: money is strength, knowledge is strength, and position is strength, these are very large centers of power. Who is enabled on earth, could do good deeds that others cannot do.

When you abstain from some of the blessings of God that benefit you in the Hereafter, and you can benefit from them in the Hereafter, you are in this case not an ascetic.

One of the most beautiful things in the Quraan about asceticism is: “So that you do not grieve for what you have missed, and do not rejoice over what has been given to you, and God does not like everyone self-deluded and boastful.”

Do not be sorry for the lost, and do not rejoice for the existing.

The ascetic poet said: Do not depend on luxurious palaces *** and remember your bones when they become decayed.

And if you see the adornments of this world, then say *** O Lord, life is the life of the Hereafter.

The wise man, if he reads the Quraan and perceives, will know the value of this world, and that it is nothing, and that it is a farm for the Hereafter, so see what you planted in it for your Hereafter?  If you sowed good, then the harvest that pleases you. If it is the other way around, you will lose this world and the hereafter.  We ask God for us and you safety and wellness.

The world, no matter how good it is, is destined for annihilation, and if it is not accompanied by a good deed, it is a loss. Whoever works in it a righteous deed, it becomes a farm for him in the Hereafter, and he attains both happiness; the happiness of this world and the happiness of the hereafter.

There is no life but the life of the hereafter

We live in this world for a fixed term, and the entire world, with its adornment doesn't not worth, to God, the wing of a mosquito, and it is also imprinted on imperfection, nothing in it will ever be complete. There is no happiness that lasts for its owner, nor wealth that lasts for its owner, and no matter how good it tastes, it will pass away from his hands, or he will disappear from it, except for the sweetness of obedience and faith. It will remain until the Day of Judgment, and it will benefit him on a day when neither wealth nor children will benefit except he who comes to God with a healthy heart

If we knew that for sure, we would not have rushed and raced to collect them, but rather we would not be proud, we wouldn't envy.

"And present to them the example of the life of this world, [its being] like rain which We send down from the sky, and the vegetation of the earth mingles with it and [then] it becomes dry remnants, scattered by the winds. And Allah is ever, over all things, Perfect in Ability."

The Almighty says, “Mohammad, give people an example of the life of this world in its annihilation and expiration being like rain which We send down from the sky, and the vegetation of the earth mingles with it

That is: what is in it of seeds, so it grew and became beautiful, light and freshness rose to the top, and then after all of this

it becomes dry remnants, scattered by the winds right and left..  And Allah is ever, over all things, Perfect in Ability.

Is there a sane person who makes his concern to gather the stubble in his hands and the winds are at its strongest, the stubble has no value, and it will not remain for him?!

For a moment, let us remember what is most important, that not only will it disappear and there will be no trace left, no, but it is recorded in our book with God;  "And every thing, small and great, is written."

Everything that we dedicate ourselves to care for and to increase from its lowly enjoyment, we will be asked about it all, should we not bear the anxiety of this moment?

Is it not right that we lighten these burdens as much as we can, that we ease the length and severity of the reckoning, that we purify our mind that is preoccupied with it and that we yearn for it, and fill it with what brings us closer to Paradise?

Abu Barza Al Aslamy narrated: "A servant’s feet will not move on the Day of Resurrection until he is asked about his life and how he spent it, about his knowledge and how he did it, about his money from where he earned it and how he spent it, and about his body and how he used it".

Sahih Atermizi.

What we see in our daily life and the desire of each person to be better than others, more beautiful, and what he has is more, this is not in righteous deeds and piety, but in dress, purposes, status, and in an, all-encompassing word, “the world (life)”. Is this the case for someone who is convinced of the insignificance of the world, and hence its demise?

Or is it the case of someone who is certain that he will be held accountable for every step, look, food and drink?!

Or is it the state of someone who is certain that what God has is better and more lasting?!  Don't be deceived by the race of the contestants. It is a sea that who sailed in is in heedlessness and its depths are destruction and lowliness. Seek what is with God, and work for it in this world;  It is the arena of effort. Leave working for this world because this is betrayal and loss, and God knows best.

"When you will leave anything for the sake of God, God will give you better than it" .

It was narrated from him, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, that he said, “Whoever leaves something for God, God will compensate him with something better than it.” This hadith is weak. It is not proven on the authority of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, with this wording, although it is well-known to many people, and it has been proven with another wording. "You will not leave anything, for fear of God, but God will compensate you with something better than it. " Sahih Al Mosnad.

This great hadith has three sentences.  The first is his saying, “You will not leave anything.” This is a general term that includes everything that a person leaves; Seeking the face of God Almighty.

The second: His saying: “Fear of God - the Mighty and Sublime” – this sentence in which the Prophet - may God’s prayers and peace be upon him - clarified that abandoning must be seeking the pleasure of God, not out of fear of authority, or out of shyness from a person, or the inability to be able to, or  otherwise.

The third: His saying - may God’s prayers and peace be upon him: “God will only give you something better than it.” This sentence contains an explanation of the reward that will be granted to whoever fulfills this condition, which is God’s compensation to the leaver with something better and better than what he left.

Compensation from God may be of the same type as the one who has been abandoned, or of other than it, and it includes being close to God - the Mighty and Sublime - and His love, peace of mind and openness of the chest, and it is in this world and the hereafter.

As God taught the believer to supplicate: “Our Lord, give us good in this world and good in the hereafter.”

Qatada al-Sadosi said: A man is able to do something forbidden and then abandons it, with nothing but the fear of God - the Mighty and Sublime - unless he replaces it in the immediate world before the next.

Abu Huraira narrated:

Allah's Messenger  said, "Allah says, 'If My slave intends to do a bad deed then (O Angels) do not write it unless he does it; if he does it, then write it as it is, but if he refrains from doing it for My Sake, then write it as a good deed (in his account). (On the other hand) if he intends to do a good deed, but does not do it, then write a good deed (in his account), and if he does it, then write it for him (in his account) as ten good deeds up to seven-hundred times.' Sahih Al Bukhari.

The examples that show the great succession of God Almighty to His servants are very many, including: What God Almighty told about God’s Prophet Solomon - peace be upon him - in Surat “Sad.”

The summary of this story: Prophet Solomon loved jihad in the way of God, and therefore he had many horses and he loved them very much, so he worked with them one day until he missed the Asr prayer, and the sun set before he prayed, so he ordered them and they were returned to him, so he struck their necks and hocks with swords;  In preference to the love of God - the Mighty and Sublime - and that was permissible in their Sharia. Then God Almighty gave him something better; the wind that flows at his command with ease wherever he commands, cutting during the day what others do in two months.

And to David We gave Solomon. An excellent servant, indeed he was one repeatedly turning back [to Allāh] * [Mention] when there were exhibited before him in the afternoon the poised [standing] racehorses * And he said, "Indeed, I gave preference to the love of good [things] over the remembrance of my Lord until it [i.e., the sun] disappeared into the curtain [of darkness]." * [He said], "Return them to me," and set about striking [their] legs and necks. * And We certainly tried Solomon and placed on his throne a body; then he returned. * He said, "My Lord, forgive me and grant me a kingdom such as will not belong to anyone after me. Indeed, You are the Bestower." * So We subjected to him the wind blowing by his command, gently, wherever he directed * And [also] the devils [of jinn] - every builder and diver. * And others bound together in irons.  ) [We said], "This is Our gift, so grant or withhold without account

When the Almighty praised David, and mentioned what happened to him and from him, he praised his son Solomon, peace be upon them both, and said, “And We bestowed upon David Solomon,” meaning: We bestowed it upon him, and we affirmed the same with him.

The servant Solomon, peace be upon him, was characterized by something that deserves praise, which is, “He is repeatedly turning back [to Allah]. That is: to return to God in all his circumstances, by devotion, repentance, love, remembrance, supplication, supplication, striving to please God, and prioritizing him over everything.

For this reason, when the horses were presented to him, they were described by the saffron, which is the raising of one of their legs when standing, and they had a splendid view, and an impressive beauty, especially for those in need of it like kings, so it continued to be presented to him until the sun set, so it distracted him from evening prayer.  He said, regretting what he had done, and drawing close to God by what distracted him from his remembrance, and prioritizing the love of God over the love of others, “I loved the love of good” and within “I loved” whether I preferred the love of good, which is money in general, and in this place the meaning was mentioned, till sun set. “give them back to me,” so he started stabbing them with his sword on their legs and necks.

And We have tried Solomon, "that is: We tested him by the disappearance of his kingdom and its separation from him due to a defect necessitated by human nature. And We cast upon His throne a body” meaning: Satan, as God decreed and ordained, to sit on the throne of his kingdom during the period of Solomon’s trial. Then Solomon turned to God Almighty and repented.

So he said, “My Lord, forgive me and bestow upon me a kingdom that is not befitting to anyone after me, for you are the bestower.” So God responded, restored his possession to him, and increased his possession for him, and forgave him.

"So We subjected to him the wind blowing by his command, gently, wherever he directed * And [also] the devils [of jinn] - every builder and diver. * And others bound together in irons.  ) [We said], "This is Our gift, so grant or withhold without account "

The devils were subjected to him, they build what he wants, and they dive into the sea, they extract pearls and ornaments, and whoever disobeyed him they are bound together in irons.

And we said to him, “This is Our gift,” and he accepted it in kind, “so be faithful” to whomever you like, “or withhold” whomever you like, “without reckoning.” That is, there is no objection to you in that and no reckoning, for His knowledge, the Most High, and the perfection of His judgments in this world.  This is for Solomon in this world and in the hereafter. That is why he said: {Indeed, he is with us at the end of time and a good return} meaning: he is one of those who are close to God, who are honored with all kinds of dignities.

The second example: The Prophet - may God’s prayers and peace be upon him - and his companions, when they emigrated, left their homes and their money for the sake of God Almighty, so God compensated them by making them the leaders of the world and the rulers of the earth and He opened for them the treasures of Khosrau and Caesar, and empowered them over the necks of kings and tyrants, this is with what is hoped for them from the bliss of the Hereafter.  So they thanked, did not disbelieve, were humble and were not arrogant, and judged with justice between people.

Allah said:

"Allah has promised those among you who believe, and do righteous good deeds, that He will certainly grant them succession to (the present rulers) in the earth, as He granted it to those before them, and that He will grant them the authority to practise their religion, that which He has chosen for them (i.e. Islam). And He will surely give them in exchange a safe security after their fear (provided) they (believers) worship Me and do not associate anything (in worship) with Me. But whoever disbelieved after this, they are the Fasiqun (rebellious, disobedient to Allah)."

Contemplate the story of one of these emigrants, who is Suhaib Al-Rumi - may God be pleased with him - from Ikrimah who said: "When Suhaib came out as an emigrant, the people of Mecca followed him, and he took his quiver, and he took out forty arrows from it and said: You will not reach me until I put in each of you an arrow, and then I will use the sword after that. So you know that I am a man, and I have left two girls in Mecca, and they are yours. Hammad ibn Salem, after Thabet, after Anas narrated this also. The following Ayat was revealed to the Prophet :

"And of the people is he who sells himself, seeking means to the approval of Allah . And Allah is kind to [His] servants." When the Prophet saw Sohaib he told him "the sale was profitable Aba Yahia" and he recited the Ayat. Anas narrated that.

Explanation: Suhaib was  followed by a group of the polytheists, and he was asked, he said, “O people of Quraish, I am a good shooter and you do not reach me until I shoot you with every arrow with me and then I will strike you with my sword.”

If you want my money, I will guide you to it. So, he made a covenant with them and guided them, so they came back and took his money. When he came to the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, he told him that the sale was profitable, so God Almighty revealed: "And of the people is he who sells himself, seeking means to the approval of Allah . And Allah is kind to [His] servants."

The third example: The Prophet of God Yusuf - peace and blessings be upon him - was presented with temptations in their finest forms, so he sought refuge and God protected him, and left that to God - the Mighty and Sublime;  Because God made him one of the faithful, and he was harmed because of that;

So he chose prison over what they called him to, so he was patient and chose what is with God, so God Almighty compensated him with the best;  he made him king over the treasuries of the earth, and taught him the interpretation of dreams, so he is the best giver, and the best taker, and the best  gift.

He said, "My Lord, prison is more to my liking than that to which they invite me. And if You do not avert from me their plan, I might incline toward them and [thus] be of the ignorant." So his Lord responded to him and averted from him their plan. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing"

"And thus We established Joseph in the land to settle therein wherever he willed. We touch with Our mercy whom We will, and We do not allow to be lost the reward of those who do good."

Praise be to God, Lord of the Worlds, and may God’s peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad and all his family and companions.

It has been narrated on the authority of Abu Huraira who said:

The Messenger of Allah sent some horsemen to Najd. They captured a man. He was from the tribe of Banu Hanifa and was called Thumama b. Uthal. He was the chief of the people of Yamama. People bound him with one of the pillars of the mosque. The Messenger of Allah came out to (see) him. He said: O Thumama, what do you think? He replied: Mohammad, I have good opinion of you. If you kill me, you will kill a person who has spilt blood. If you do me a favour, you will do a favour to a grateful person. If you want wealth, ask and you will get what you will demand. The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) left him (in this condition) for two days, (and came to him again) and said: What do you think, O Thumama? He replied: What I have already told you. If you do a favour, you will do a favour to a grateful person. If you kill me, you will kill a person who has spilt blood. If you want wealth, ask and you will get what you will demand. The Messenger of Allah left him until the next day when he (came to him again) and said: What do you think, O Thumama? He replied: What I have already told you. If you do me a favour, you will do a favour to a grateful person. If you kill me, you will kill a person who has spilt blood. If you want wealth ask and you will get what you will demand. The Messenger of Allah said: Set Thumama free. He went to a palm-grove near the mosque and took a bath. Then he entered the mosque and said: I bear testimony (to the truth) that there is no god but Allah and I testify that Mohammad is His bondman and His messenger. O Mohammad, by Allah, there was no face on the earth more hateful to me than your face, but (now) your face has become to me the dearest of all faces. By Allah, there was no religion more hateful to me than your religion, but (now) your religion has become the dearest of all religions to me. By Allah, there was no city more hateful to me than your city, but (now) your city has become the dearest of all cities to me. Your horsemen captured me when I intended going for Umra. Now what is your opinion (in the matter)? The Messenger of Allah announced good tidings to him and told him to go on 'Umra. When he reached Mecca, somebody said to him: Have you changed your religion? He said: No! I have rather embraced Islam with the Messenger of Allah. By Allah, you will not get a single grain of wheat from Yamama until it is permitted by the Messenger of Allah.

Sahih Moslem.

Salman Alfarisy

He left the wealth of his father in search of the righteousness of his afterlife. He was a Magian, then a Christian, and then submitted to God, Lord of the Worlds

Salman narrated..

I was a Persian man from the people of Isfahan, one of the people of a village called Jay.

My father was the chief of this village, I was his most beloved, out of his love, he imprisoned me at home, like a girl, I became inmate of fire, and I struggled in the Magian until I was the servant - who kindles it and does not leave it fading for an hour.

My father had a great estate, he was busy one day in building  and ordered me to go and watch his estate. On my way I passed by a church of the christians.

I heard their voices, they pray, and I did not know what they were doing because of my imprisonment. So I entered to see what they were doing.

He said: When I saw them, I liked their prayers and desired, and I said this, by God, is better than the religion we are, and they stayed there till the sun set.

I left my father's estate and did not come to it, so I said to them: Where is the origin of this religion?  They said: In the Levant.  He said: Then I went back to my father, and he had sent for me, and I distracted him from all his work.  Where were you ?  Did I not entrust you with something?  I said: O father!  I passed by people praying in their church, I liked what I saw of their religion, for by God, I remained with them until the sun set. He said: O son!  There is no good in that religion, your religion and the religion of your forefathers are better than it. I told him no, that is better.. He was afraid, and put bonds in my leg, and imprisoned me. And I sent to the Christians and said to them: If Christian merchants came to you from Levant, tell me. He said, when they wanted to go back to their country, they told me, I threw bonds from my legs and went with them to the levant. When I went there, I asked: Who is the best of the people of this religion?  They said: The bishop in the church. He said: I came to him and said: I desired this religion, and I wanted to be with you, to serve you in your church, to learn from you and to pray with you. He said: come in.  And I entered with him, he was a bad man, He ordered them to give alms and if they gathered them, he took them for himself and did not give the poor, until he collected too much gold and too much money. I hated him a lot, then the bishop died, and the Christians came to engrave him, and I told them that this was a bad man, who commanded you to give alms and took it for himself.  They said: How did you know that?  He said: I am showing you his treasure.  So I showed them. He said, "Then they extracted from it the gold and paper." He said, "When they saw it, they said: By God, we wouldn't bury him."  So they crucified him, then stoned him with stones, then they brought another man and put him in his place. He said: "I haven't seen a man praying better than him,  there is no man more ascetic than him, no one more desiring the hereafter than him, no one working day and night than him.

He said: I loved him with a love that I had never loved before, and I lived with him for a while, then death came to him. I told him I was with you, and I loved you with a love that I did not love before you, and what you see of the command of God has come to you, So to whom would you recommend me?  And what do you command me?  He said: O son!  By God, I do not know anyone today of what I was upon, for surely the people have perished and they replaced and left what they had been on, except for a man in Al Mawsel. I went to him and told him that So-and-so at his death, commanded me to join you, and he told me that you were on his command. He said to me: Stay with me.  So I stayed with him and found him to be the best, so he died soon afterwards, died!  I told him So-and-so recommended me to you and commanded me to follow you, and what you see has come to you from God, so who would you advise?  And what do you command me? He said: O son!  By God, I do not know of a man the like of what we were upon, except one in Naseebeen, and he is so-and-so, so he is entitled to it. He said, "When he died and was absent, I followed the owner of Amoryah and told him my story, so he said: Stay with me."  So I stayed with a man on the guidance of his companions and their command. He said, "And I earned until I had cows and booty." He said, "Then the command of God came down on him, and when he came, I said, 'Oh!'"  I was with so-and-so, and so-and-so recommended me to so-and-so, and so-and-so recommended me to so-and-so, then so-and-so recommended me to me. He said O, son there is no one on our way, but there is a prophet following Ibrahim's religion, in the land of the Arabs, migrating to a land between two Haras, have palms between them. The Hara is an earth with black stones. He has signs of his prophethood; he takes the gift and does not take charity, between his shoulders is the prophecy seal, if you could join this country, go.  Then he died.

I stayed in Amoryah as Allah wanted me to stay, then some merchants from "kalb" passed by me, I told them would you take me to the land Arabs, and I would give you my cows and sheep, they said, yes. Then we went to Wadi Al Qora, they sold me to a Jewish man, while I was there I saw palms, so I hoped this to be the land described to me by my friend, then his cousin, from Qoraiza, came to him and bought me, he took me to Al Madina, when I saw it, I recognized that it is what my friend told me about. So I stayed in it, and God sent His Messenger, and he stayed in Mecca as long as he did, I didn't not hear him being mentioned with what he is because of my being a slave. Then the Messenger migrated to Al Madina, while I was doing some jobs for my master over a palm tree, his cousin came to him and told him "God  may fight Bani Kaila". By God, they have now gathered in Qubaa over a man who came to them from Mecca today, claiming that he is a Messenger. When I heard that I suffered from fever cold, that I thought I would fall over my master. I went down from the palm tree and started saying this to his cousin: What do you say, what do you say?  Then my master became angry and punched me hard. Then he said: What have you to do with this?!  Continue your work. I said: Nothing, I just wanted to prove what he said. I had collected something and I took it, then I went to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) in Qubaa. So I entered to him and told him: I have heard that you are a good man and that you have strangers with you. This is something I had for charity, so I saw that you are more deserving of it than anyone else. The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said to his companions, “Eat.”  And he held his hand and did not eat, he said, and I said to myself, This is the first thing. Then I gathered something and went to the Messenger in Al Madina,  I told him that I saw that you didn't take the charity, and this a gift for you, so the Messenger of Allah ate and ordered his companions to eat also. I told myself this is the second one.

Then the Messenger of Allah followed a funeral in Baqi Al Gharkad, he wore clothes made of wool or hair, and was sitting with the Companions,  so I turned to see his back, I saw the seal of prophethood as my friend described to me, I bent down to kiss him and weep. Then the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said to me, “turn.”  So I turned and recounted my hadith to him as I had told you, Ibn Abbas.

He said, "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was pleased and made his companions hear also. Salman slavery made him miss with the Messenger of Allah  Badr and Uhud. Then the Messenger of Allah peace be upon him told Salman pay money to free yourself from slavery. So I did so by three hundred palm trees and forty ounce. So the Messenger of God, told his companions, "help your brother."  So they helped me with date palms, a man with thirty young palm trees - and a man with twenty, and a man with ten, each man according to what he had, until three hundred young palm trees were gathered for me. The Messenger of Allah told me go and dig for them, then come to me, and I would put it with my hands.” So I went and my companions helped me until, when I finished, I came to him and told him, so God’s Messenger, planted them and not one of them died.. Then remained the money, the Messenger of God came with a piece of gold like an egg, from one of his Ghazawat, and said where is Salman, he gave it to me, I told him that it is not sufficient,  but the Messenger told me God will make it suffice.

I took it , weighed it and I paid what I should pay.. It weighed forty ounce. Then I contributed with the Messenger of God in Ghazawat Al Khandak, and I didn't miss any other Ghazwa.

When Moaz Ibn Jabbal was about to die, they told him advise us, he told them let me sit, they did.. He said Knowledge and Faith are at their places, whoever wants them, will find them. They are to be asked among four people; Owaimer Abi Ad-dardaa', Salman Al Faresy, Abdullah Ibn Masu'd and Abdullah Ibn Sallam, who was Jewish, but he became Moslem as I heard the Prophet saying that he is the ten of the ten in paradise.  Sahih Al Mosnad.
